JOSCo’s Health, Safety and Environment (“HSE”) Policy
JOSCo believes in responsible development of Jordan’s oil shale resources.
We act on that in our day-to-day operations as well as in strategic decisions we’ve made such as favouring the In situ Conversion Process (ICP) as our technology of choice. ICP can produce a larger volume of oil and gas from a relatively smaller surface area compared to surface retort technology, and avoids the complications of mining.
ICP also produces lighter crude oil that requires less refining steps to produce high quality transportation fuels. Before embarking on any project period, JOSCo will perform a comprehensive Environmental, Social and Health Impact Assessment study of the activities for that period. These impact assessments must first receive the green light from the relevant Jordanian authorities before licenses and permits are granted for any work in that period.
In our company our policy is to:
Our HSE commitment is something we strive for. It provides us with a direction.
In this way we aim to have an HSE performance we can be proud of, to earn the confidence of all our stakeholders, to be a good neighbour and to contribute to sustainable development.
Our company:
Goal Zero
We use Goal Zero to describe our pursuit of an accident-free workplace and one free of significant incidents. Goal Zero illustrates how JOSCo thinks about safety, and, therefore, this is how JOSCo will conduct its business. We are dedicated to avoiding accidents.
To get there, we energise our extended organisation around safety. Likewise, no matter what is urgent or how our business priorities are changing, we will not compromise safety for the sake of anything else.
Goal Zero starts from day one of our operations. We will stop any work that is unsafe or just doesn't look right. All of our staff and our contractors must comply with defined rules for avoiding workplace injuries. |
