Living by our principles

We are judged by how we act - our reputation is upheld by how we live up to our core values of honesty, integrity and respect for people. We have eight Business Principles, which apply to all our business affairs and describe the behaviour expected of every employee. They also indicate how we promote trust, openness, teamwork and professionalism, and pride in what we do.

As part of a global group of companies we have a responsibility to be a good corporate citizen: to listen and respond to various points of view.

We practice a high international standard of responsible care in our operations and promote sustainable development. This requires balancing short and long term interests and integrating economic, environmental and social considerations into business decision-making. Before embarking on any project period, JOSCo will perform a comprehensive Environmental, Safety and Health Impact Assessment study of the activities for that period. These impact assessments must first receive the green light from the relevant Jordanian authorities before licenses and permits are granted for any work in that period.

JOSCO is eager to develop Jordanian talent and capabilities in the oil shale field. We will do so by selecting high calibre staff for our operations, providing the necessary training for them to excel and by working with and using local contractors and suppliers and setting good examples through our business practices and ethics.

Throughout all periods of project development, JOSCo aims to build constructive, collaborative and enduring relationships with interested stakeholders by engaging with local governmental agencies, local communities, civil society, research bodies, universities, vocational training institutes and other stakeholders to identify areas of possible cooperation.
